I decided to give Goodfood a try based on their Boxing Day specials. The first two weeks were fantastic. I got notification when my order was out for delivery, then ‘5 minutes out,’ then when delivered. I took advantage of their ‘anniversary sale’ and placed a huge order including groceries this week. Aaaand, like many comments here, this is where it went off the rails. I got notification that my Thursday delivery would be delayed to Friday. Ok, not a big deal. A box with the frozen items ordered appeared, but I am still waiting for my meal kits and substantial order of groceries. It’s Saturday, and there has been no new communication, and no response to my emails to them.
My initial customer service experience was great, but now I’m not sure what to think. ????
If you came here considering ordering for the first time, DON’T. At least, not right now.
UPDATE - I finally heard back from Good Food customer service on Monday. I have been credited for the full order, and was given a discount to reorder the missing groceries. Since I had already skipped the delivery for this week, I’m now waiting to see if service resumes normally next week. I’m still not thrilled that the food I ordered never appeared AND there was never any notification that it wasn’t coming, but the compensation for it was more than fair. I can confirm what others have posted about Good Food acting to make problems right. Fingers crossed this is a one-time blip.

Absolutely awful experience for a returning customer. I had cancelled my Goodfood subscription a couple years back due to moving. Since then I had tried HelloFresh and ChefsPlate which were both excellent. Goodfood sent me a personalized "come back to GoodFood" offer email which looked great. Their new website/interface looked good so I decided to try and sign back up.
This was the start of the awful experience - As soon as I signed back up I noticed that the promotion was not applied to the account. This happens, so I reached out to their customer success team. Their agent informed me that I didn't qualify for the promotion, even though I had received a personalized email which I provided in the chat. I should have exited right there but the agent was able to provide a credit for about 1/3 the value to the account. I figured she had tried her best and I really did want to try the new recipes so I accepted.
I then tried to book 3 weeks of orders. March 15th, March 22th and March 29th. The week of March 15th comes around and there's no box. I check my goodfood profile and noticed that the week was marked as "skipped" for some reason. I thought I had made an error, so I triple checked the order settings for the week of March 22nd and confirmed the basket. Monday rolls around and my partner reminded me to check the status. I log in this morning and sure enough, the week is skipped again!! I immediately reach out to their staff as there is an option for "same day delivery" on their website with a countdown of 30 minutes. I explain what has happened and that I am still interested in getting the basket today if possible. The agent tells me I have no order booked for tomorrow (???) and that there is nothing I can do as they book their baskets a week in advance... Even though there's same day delivery as an option on your site? At this point it was too ridiculous to continue and I asked to cancel my account. I typed an abridged version of this to the retention agent and then they said "please let me know what happened to make sure you aren't leaving with an unpleasant taste in your mouth." I have no idea what happened to this company but I definitely recommend one of the many alternatives.

Pros and Cons of Good Food

The majority of the food and meals I have received in my first 3 orders was very good to excellent.
Appreciate knowing the calorie counts and nutrient for all items.
My concerns are about excess packaging. Many plastic bags in general and a plastic container for each avacado..
Food freshness is a concern. I would prefer to have a whole onion or 1/3 head of cabbage rather than the chopped pieces, as they are currently presented. The cabbage turns brown and the onion gets soft.
Additionally, I have only ordered 3 time. 1st order was good. 2nd order I got part of someones elses order plus my own. 3rd order I had a kumchi leak, which damaged an unsealed meal bag.
Do like the grocery that one can order, juice, cheese and desserts etc.

Totally worth it

I have had a few problems with freshness and delivery but the people at Goodfood have gone out of their to reimburse me (credits) in a very quick and timely manner. (Usually with 24 hrs) The recipes are very good on the most part (just my taste), directions are clear and easy to follow and generally you get delicious meals with half the preparation. I enjoy the service as it is a great way to try new things/recipes without making a large commitment.

Quality of food was good

Quality of food was good. Somewhat disappointed by service aspect. Late shipments. Items missing. Fresh produce not packaged well. Did like the grocery aspect of the service. Interesting stand alone items such as spices and sauces. Missing key meal ingredients does detract greatly from the overall experience when the cost is factored in though.

Our family enjoys the meals!

Our family has really enjoyed the meal selections we’ve made from GoodFood! The ingredients are fresh and portioned nicely. We’ve enjoyed learning about mise en place which makes cooking much easier! Making meatballs with long bean slaw tonight!

Excellent product so far, be wary of the waste

Excellent product so far, but be wary of the waste.
The quality and quantity of food are great. We have never eaten so well in our life! The spices are incredible, the variety excellent. A bit on the pricy side but considering the fun we have making the dishes well worth it.
Why 4 stars? Plastic waste. They say 100% recyclable but it would be impossible to wash and recycle all the small individual plastic bags and freezer packs. It's nuts.
Advice to Goodfood - please wrap in compostable material, paper, or reusable containers. This is just crazy bad for the environment.

Delivery inconsistent. Needs improvement

Food quality is fine.
DELIVERY is very inconsistent and frustrating. While on surface it seems to be high tech. it is NOT accurate and makes planning difficult.

Delicious recipes

I am a single senior. The food is fresh and the meats are tender and have a long expiry dates. The recipes and spices are wonderful tasting, it’s like going to a restaurant.

Spoiled food in all 3 orders. Save your money.

I am writing this to provide some feedback about our experience with your boxes. Our first box was gifted to us, and we found the experience mostly enjoyable aside from a few wet ingredients having spilt within the package and our package of pork being pierced which we had to throw away to ensure our safety. We thought this was just a one time thing so we decide to subscribe and order our own box.
Our second box had some spoiled vegetables items, and chicken that smelled off and was turning yellow. We were very disappointed by this experience as it was 2 for 2 so we decided to cancel at that time. Unfortunately, we were unable to cancel without losing our $68 as the next box was already locked in. The customer service rep was kind enough to put a hold the box order, and leave the $68 credit on our account so that we didn't lose our money altogether. A few weeks ago, before the deadline to lose that credit, we decide to order our final box and once it arrived, we cancelled our account. However, our box again had food spoil issues. The tomatoes had fuzzy mold, the cucumbers were all mushy at the ends, the ground beef was patchy with brown spots, and the potatoes had sprouts. Our delivery was on Friday, February 26th and these meals were prepared on Sunday, Monday, and this evening (Tuesday). As you can see, not enough time had passed for these items to have become spoiled in our fridge.
We informed Good Foods of this because it was consistent with our experience to have to replace food items at our own cost to complete the recipes. We felt really disappointed that of the 9 meals ordered, 5 of them were negatively impacted by spoiled food. I am certain this is not the experience they want to provide your customers, especially given that the boxes are already $68-$85 for three meals.
We contacted Good Foods to let them know just in case our boxes came from a certain location, and they needed to do a quality inspection follow-up. Unfortunately we never heard back from them about this situation. We are unlikely to recommend Good Foods boxes to our family and friends, and wanted to write this review to prepare other individuals for what may be their experience as well.

Enjoyed the Food

Enjoyed the Food
I have enjoyed the food that we have received over the first few weeks of service. We have had one meal where were did not receive all the items, and one of the vegetables was not fresh, but the shipment gets to us on time, and the kids are able to cook something once a week.

spinach was soggy

spinach was soggy, zucchini had large soft spots, so the salad came out terrible. 2 out of 3 meals were okay. Has been our first bad experience with good food.
